Different Toppings For Bubble Tea

For those of us who aren't boba tea experts, you'd be forgiven thinking that tapioca pearls are what make the popular beverage so iconic, and you'd be right! However, they aren't the only topping you can get. Popular choices include delicious juice balls or flavoured jelly to make your bubble tea even more delicious.

If you're new to boba tea, it might take some time to decide which topping and flavour is the best choice for you, and that's all part of the fun! Here at Manhua Cha, we create delicious bubble tea with a range of different flavours to choose from. What's more, is that we also craft easy-to-follow bubble tea kits, so you can make your favourite drink at home! Trying to decide what the best topping is for you? Read our article below!

Tapioca Pearls

Probably the most iconic out of all the toppings, chewy tapioca balls (or pearls) were the original topping back in 1984 when Liu Han-Chieh invented bubble tea in Taiwan. Whether your bubble tea is served piping hot or ice-cold, tapioca pearls can be present in all forms of boba tea. Usually found resting at the bottom of your drink, tapioca pearls can be sucked up through your straw as you drink, or you can save them until the end.

The pearls don't usually taste of anything unless they're soaked in syrup, and only provide an addictive texture to the bubble tea. Tapioca pearls aren't for everyone, as some people opt for more fruit flavoured toppings. In our kits, you will be provided with a bubble tea recipe, as well as your choice of topping. If you decide that tapioca pearls are the topping for you, we'll even attach a recipe of how to prepare them for your boba tea!

Popping Juice Balls

A fun, yummy alternative to tapioca pearls, popping juice balls contain fruit juices, and can be discovered when you chew them! Perfect for fruit and milk teas, popping juice balls make drinking your favourite bubble tea creation a fun and yummy experience.

Here at Manhua Cha, we have a delicious range of flavours perfect for any boba tea drink. Fruit flavours range from fan-favourite strawberry to unusual lychee, all of which can be bought separately or with a bubble tea kit of your choice. Jelly

Not a fan of tapioca or popping juice balls? Simple jelly might be the perfect choice for you. Where juice balls have the surprise of fruit juice within them, jelly is much more discreet but still packs a punch with delicious flavour. Fruit jellies such as grape and strawberry are a popular choice, as they provide extra fruity flavour to your already yummy bubble tea.

Here at Manhua Cha, our jelly flavours range from coconut to mysterious rainbow, and can be included in our bubble tea kits for both fruit and milk teas, hot or cold! Whether you're looking for fresh-brewed boba tea instore, or want to try your hand at making it at home with our bubble tea kits, we've got the perfect flavour for you.
